Tried and confused

I know this is for Beyond body size, but I truly am tried and confused. I’m heavy, that sometimes I’m okay with it other times I wish I was skinny again. I have always been a yo yo dieter, at one point I was actually 140 pounds for a whole year (this was almost 5 years ago) I do miss those days, clothes seem to fit better style is so much better, but then I just get tried and then confused. Do I stay the way I am or do I try and spend a lot of money to get skinny again? I’m not sure. Honestly if I was okay with who I am, maybe this decision would be easier.

First of all Jovra I'm puzzled by what you might mean by 'Do I spend a lot of money to get skinny again?'. Who do you think is going to take your money to ensure that?

Most diets don't work, partly because they are unrealistic in their requirements and partly because what they advise is harshly difficult and just not human, so most of us cannot persist, then we feel miserable and guilty. The diet industry is there to make money, and if you insist on spending it in their direction they will willingly take your money off you, again and again.

Please be kind to yourself but firm. If you want to make permanent changes the ONLY PERSON who can help you make them IS YOU, though this forum, HU, will give you oodles of constant support, if you will let it.

Firstly, sit down and HONESTLY write down everything you think you have been eating on an average day over the past week. Don't miss out the drinks, which are sometimes secret sugar-bombs. Then start a new diary recording everything you eat as you go, for at least a week more. Then look some of these foods up on reputable sites to find out how much sugar they contain, or whether they contain the wrong kinds of carbs which convert to high quantities of sugar in your system.

While doing all of this don't neglect to monitor your exercise. If you have a Smartphone, chances are that you have an app on it which will tell you how far you are walking every day, or how many steps you are taking. Being aware of this will spur you on to stepping out more.

Now you are ready to start achieving your OWN goal, to lose weight gradually and effectively. You need help, advice from colleagues on this site who understand what the challenges will be and will help you on the way. You need another Flash-Promise Diet programme, course or book, Like a Hole in the Head. Make each progressive goal small and do-able. Congratulate yourself each step of the way.

You can do this but you need Patience and Courage. My guess is that you have both these qualities. Please take them out and exercise them!

Good luck. love Betty xx

Thanks Betty! I appreciate all of what you wrote, it means a lot and it makes sense. I need to be in a place in my life to be motivated and to care about myself more to take better care of myself. I know I’m not there yet, but I am taking the steps to get to where I need to be to care more about myself and to be healthy.

Thank you again!

Darling, be kind to yourself, and know that whatever else is going on in your life, including people you love and want to take care of, you can do that all the better if you look after yourself first, remembering how important you are to others, as well as yourself. All good luck to you; we are all with you in spirit.

Thank you!! 😃

Hi there,

Just accept whatever body shape it is, be realistic. I find many friends outside are not realistic in clothing.

You can wear any dress model. But, one thing is for sure, you will not look beautiful at all if you are not comfortable with what you wear

But is it true that fat is always unhealthy? Apparently not! Fat body is not necessarily unhealthy. Reported by the New York Post, research conducted at York University, Toronto found that obesity and obesity are not risk factors for death if not added to other risks such as high blood sugar and high bad cholesterol.

But if you do have a target to reduce your weight without having to look unhealthy you can try to start considering this :
