Hello I'm new to the site.I was diagnosed 4 years ago after I was having all these symptoms for many years.

Mouth ulcers , eye problems ,fatigue, headaches, itchy skin and very painfull joints are just a few of the many problems that ,seems to present to us in this "Special society".

I seem to be quite fortunate at this moment as I don't seem to be showing too many symptoms. I put this down to my rigorous diet regime. I try to not eat dairy, wheat or certain other types of food that I find makes me have terrible flare ups of various degrees almost within 15 mins of eating the offending food.

Does anyone else suffer from eating certain foods?

Hi butterfly;

Welcome to the site, the period of the disease is active, pickles, hot pepper and spicy foods should not be eaten, cereals and dairy products are not convinced that harm patients.

Hi Sunset

I seem to 'crave' cereals and milk - are you saying there is no evidence they are harmful?

Welcome to the forum Butterfly

It is good to get positive news from people with behcets especially if something they are doing helps them.

I too am not good with dairy products and chees makes me very ill which is shame as I love it so much. Tea, coffee and chocolate sends me crazy and keeps me awake all night even small amounts and similar to what sunset says I find Indian Food aggrovates my symptoms, another food I love :(

Additives like Monosodium make me ache all over and wheeze, which is difficult as it is in so many foods. I tend to stick to recipes with meat, fish and fresh vegetable and leave the vices to only occaisonal eating.

I hope you find this forum helpful whenever you need it

A very big welcome to you Butterfly Hun ! I Love your chosen tag name........and I am so pleased you fluttered along and landed on this particular brightly coloured flower to say hello LOL.

It is always nice to hear from new people and especially someone with such a positive mindset on the dreaded BD.

There are quite a few people here that restrict certain foods which I'm sure will be delighted to hear your experiences and tips on what and what not to eat that works for you.

Perhaps you could be our recipe guru ????

Talk again really soon, just wanted to say hi and welcome. ttfn, big hugs xx

Hello Butterfly,

Welcome to our gang.

I tend to only rarely eat wheat (I find that I lose weight this way) and do not overdose on dairy either. My daughter is allergic to lactose, not just intolerant, and so I have devised a diet using recipes which include lactose free products for her. We share this food as we live together.

My rheumatologist has warned against too much citrus as this aggrevates the arthralgia. On the whole, we have all sorts of food including some lightly spiced dishes, but nothing too violent like a vindaloo curry!!

I am afraid it is very much taste it and see, before you can devise a diet which is right for you.

Best wishes xx
