Hi there
Does anyone else suffer from sleep paralysis?
Hi Joannavh1991,
Sleep paralysis mostly seems to happen in people who have narcolepsy (falling asleep without warning). You can read more about it here:
sleepfoundation.org/narcolepsy/symptoms/hallucinations-and-sleep-paralysis
I know a woman who has BD and narcolepsy, and sleep paralysis has happened to her. There are a few med journal articles about individual BDers who have sleep disorders, and narcolepsy and sleep paralysis are mentioned there too. Sleep paralysis is one type of "REM sleep behavior disorder"
Here's one article:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6390777/
I haven't had it happen to me, but I'm betting it's really scary 😥. Hugs for you,
Joanne Z.
I get sleep paralysis sometimes. I seem to get it for a few days / weeks, then I don't get it for months / years at a time. I can snap myself out of it by breathing in and out rapidly, sometimes my girlfriend wakes me up when she hears me doing this. I have read it is harmless, but it is not pleasant when it happens.
