Hello

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the coil and Behcets? Is there anything to look out for or is it straight forward?

Hi Vicki. I’ve had the Mirena Coil in for almost 18yrs! Obviously changed every 3-4yrs. I’ve had no problems what so ever. In fact not even headaches or weight gain. Hope this helps. You’ll feel pain (like a smear test) bit tired after it for an hour. That’s it. A hot water bottle helps me every time.

Hi, I’ve only been diagnosed this year but suspect Behcets has been rumbling around a lot longer... I had a mirena IUS. I won’t lie, for me it was not an easy fitting and took a while to settle. If you can ask for any pre relaxant or pain relief I would take it, I had codeine after fitting, plus local anaesthetic gel and injection. Removal was a breeze. I had it 10 years, it was just one less thing to deal with. Hope this helps, best wishes
