Hi, I had a severe case of shingles several years ago and my specialist explained to me that it was due to the amount to immunosuppression I was on. From memory a fairly high dose of prednisone. One way of diagnosing shingles is if it only goes to one side of the face - something to do with the nerves. The important thing is to get down to a GP as soon as possible to get a script to counteract the effects of shingles - some people have pain for years in that area if not treated immediately.

Thank you for the reply. My GP recons it is. It's my hubby that's not believing. He wants me to go for a 2nd opinion with the Specialist. Even with all the tell tale signs. Worst is the pain. Bechets has all it's own weird rashes too that's also another reason why I'm asking.

...are they not testing you for vzv antibody? It’s not a definitive test to see if you still have immunity to varicella, but that coupled with clinical symptoms should be able to give an answer. Definitely get a second opinion. Get blood work done, especially crp and sed rate.

if it was a clear fluid and now scabbed, that sounds like shingles. even with my BD rashes... there wasnt any fluids. I would have some pus in my ulcers tho from time to time. never clear fluid.

I’ve had a shinglies-looking rash on one side of my face a few years ago and now have had whole-body chicken pox-like rashes (3 Times in the last 18 mos. itchy clear-fluid blisters. See my previous posts). I’ve had many tests and although doctors thought they were shingles or chickenpox, they tested negative. Mayo Clinic said it’s likely Behcets. I had only been on colcihicine during the time. They have since added Dapsone to my medication as to avoid future rashes... Always a mystery with Behcets! Good luck! :)

Hi there. I also get a bad flare of shingles every so often. It usually shows up on the stomach, hips and arm. I've never experienced shingles until 2 years after my diagnosis & IT HURTS SO BAD!! I wish you a speedy recovery.

Shingles is really painful. Like tooth nerve pain.

That's for sure I did feel it in my tooth too because of being in the face😢

Speaking of teeth I would like to mention what happened to me. I kept complaining of pain in my upper jaw, which was disregarded by my dentist because of the shingles. It turned out that because of BD the roots of one of my teeth had rotted so badly it cost me a hospital visit and a humiliating lecture from a specialist to fix. I suppose the moral here is i should stood my ground and asked for X-rays.
