Hi everyone. I am new here and have several difficulties what is congestive heart failure. I also have a problem with my thoracic aorta which is twisted and swollen. Does anyone have these problems and does anyone know if you can have surgery on your aorta if you have heart disease as I do. I also have low blood pressure and Bradycardia. Thank you
Heart Failure: Hi everyone. I am new here and... - Behçet's UK
Heart Failure
Hi Ladybug,
My ascending, thoracic aorta is dilated ( aneurysm ). I get a yearly scan to monitor it.
Thoracic aortic surgery is high risk, they will only operate when your aorta is at a high risk of rupturing or if the blood is having great difficulty getting through because of narrowing. Do they think your heart failure is due to Behcets?
The best advice I can give you is to see the most experienced Behcets Consultant you can ( are you in the UK ) and ask for a referral to a cardio thoracic surgeon to get an opinion about surgical treatment to your aorta.
Thank you for your quick response! I am in the U.S. I am to see the cardiologist for the first time on Tuesday, and I don't even know what to ask. I do have extreme weakness in my arms and legs and am very fatigued. This is new to me and keeps me from my usual activity, which is quite minimal as it is.
Hi Ladybug1952, hope you got on OK at the your cardiology appointment. This is a link to our Factsheet on Behcet's and the heart that might be helpful. Best wishes to you. behcets.org.uk/wp-content/u...
