You won't really find a Behcets specialist in Australia ,its mostly treated by rheumatologists, I moved from Uk to Qld just over 3 years ago and have had Behcets for over 35 years ,but according to my doc here there are no specialists in Aus ,you will need to find a good rheumo

If there's no BD specialist available, a good rheumatologist who's willing to work with you can be a good substitute.
Hi,
I'm in Victoria and my daughter and now my son have BD. We are receiving wonderful help at the RCH in Melbourne. I too have BD and although my 11 year old son and I take Colchicine only, my daughter is on 15 tablets per day and 4 weekly Infliximab IV. Please note you do not need to go out of Australia Jane Munro at RCH has saved my daughters life. Non of this is what I expected for us but to have this angle in our life has been a blessing.
Sorry I'm not sure of your age but I'm sure your GP could contact Jane and get the needed information. Or if he is approachable he could get info sent from the UK Center of Excellence. I met a few of the team last year at the BD conference in Paris, they were fantastic.
I went to the conference as I needed to be reassured my daughter was on the right path for her medicines, and she was. We have wonderful specialists in Australia but this is a rare disease and we all need to be empowered by knowledge. On this sight I could guarantee you someone will be able to answer your questions. My love goes to you.
PS next post if you place a lock on it, the members in BD community are the only ones who can read it. xx
Hi, I would get in touch with a major teaching hospital in Perth and see if you can get an immunologist and whatever specialist you need for the particular way you are affected by Behçet's. I have been treated by a rheumatologist. I'm currently being looked after by a team of immunologist, neurologist and dermatologists. (In Sydney). Hope that makes sense.
