Hi, has anybody got good results from taking any supplements? I've heard about vitamin B12. What and why would that be good with BD?

My daughter has been taking B12 for a fair time now but dont think we have seen anything different occurring in the way of helping with symptoms.

Similar experience to Tamirra here - I tried taking a supplement for a while with no noticeable improvement to fatigue or mental acuity. I have however just started eating Marmite again and feel better in myself. It contains B vits and folic acid.

same result as the rest of you I was on the b12 injections and got no benefit from it although with bd everyone is different so if your going to take it I hope it works regards chris

Vitamin D levels have been shown to be lower in patients with BD, so have your levels checked to be sure they are in the normal range. Also, antioxidant levels are lower in patients with active BD, so supplements that restore antioxidant levels maybe helpful.

I take Vitamin D and blends of antioxidants including astaxanthin 12 mg qd, Vitamin C , Superoxide dimutase, glutathione, boswellia, trimethylglycine, hesperidin, and flavonoids.

Also, I added Low Dose Naltrexone, a prescription med, 2 months ago, and my pain levels noticeably decreased within 2 days. Now, 2 months later, I continue to be feeling better...maybe 50% less pain...it got me out of bed.

I also try to follow an anti-inflammatory diet, meaning no dairy, no gluten, no corn, no processed foods, no processed sugar...basically the Paleo Diet.

I agree with avoiding dairy, gluten, and supplementing with turmeric / curcumin. However, ginger gives me full blown attacks! Same for juices with high concentration of vitamin C - I once made myself an orange & ginger juice which put me to bed for half a day after drinking it!

Avoiding gluten seems to help also.

As for b12, it helped me overcome a big flare - I took it for about 2 weeks. When the flare started to fade I began to tolerate it less - it started giving me head aches and light-headedness.

Vitamin D definitely helps with no side effects.

the B-12 is great for fatigue if you can get your dr to give you an injection each week. Usually just go intot the nurse station and not have to see the dr and get it. Also it can help with weight loss. If your on prednisone this is a big plus. I use to go to a weight loss clinic and we did b12 injections twice a week and then phentermine which is like a stimulant but i lost a good 40 lbs of that nasty prednisone weight i had gained.

Bonjour à tous, en fin de mois, j'ai ma dernière injection de Vitamin b12 à 1000mcg (1 injection 1x/semaine pendant 4 semaines puis 1 injection/mois pendant 6 mois. Je prend également des suppléments de Calcium et Vitamin D, tout ceci évidemment sous contrôle médical. En outre, après un cancer et le diagnostic de maladie de Behcet je me suis beaucoup intéressée aux rôles de l’alimentation dans notre santé et ai décidé de me prendre en charge à ce niveau pour mettre toutes les chances de mon côté pour m’en sortir. Les livres des Dr Beliveau, Gindras et David Servan Schreiber ont été mes livres de chevet pendant mes chimiothérapies et j’ai largement suivi leurs conseils. J’utilise le curcuma, poivre noir, le gingembre, l’ail pratiquement journellement. Je mange le plus possible Bio et le moins possible de plats cuisinés des supermarchés. Je me suis remise à la crème Budwig de la Dresse Kousmine depuis 3 ans. Je me forçais à la consommer lors des chimios alors que je n’avais vraiment envie de rien avaler. Souvent je fractionnais la prise sur la journée et c’était la seule chose que j’avalais de la journée. Je pense que ça m’a aidé à me sentir mieux. Je la prépare et la consomme encore tous les matins depuis, ainsi que mon mari.

Mon immunologue m’a adressé à un médecin lyonnais qui pratique l’auriculo-médecine et l’auriculothérapie, le Dr Raphael Nogier pour effectuer des tests RAFT pour voir si j’avait des intolérances alimentaires (allergies retardées, non IGE). Les tests ont révélés des intolérances alimentaires aux œufs et à la volaille. Il était étonné de ne pas trouver d'intolérance au blé, car selon lui, les malades de Behcet ont souvent une intolérance à cette céréales. Depuis l’éviction des oeufs et de la volaille (un peu plus de 3 mois) j’ai eu une nette amélioration de certains symptômes (migraines, douleurs dans les yeux, les sinus, larmoiements, photophobie et cela m’encourage à poursuivre.
