Yes I experience this frequently and usually with a fever which occurs unpredictably. It usually happens when I have a flare going on.

Hello!

I was just about to ask this question!

For about 6 months iv been getting sudden sweats, flushes, whatever they are. Have mentioned it to my doctors but don't get much back! Mine are worse when I get a flare up. It really is horrible, one minute you feel normal then your sweating. I have even taken my temperature when having these sweats as I feel so hot but it shows my temperature is normal! I'm so confused. :(

If you type 'excessive sweating' into the search box on the top right you will find several discussions on this subject which might interest you.

The Behcet's Syndrome Society factsheet 'Effects of Behcet's Disease' says:

"Feverishness: effects like having ‘flu, night sweats, bizarre sense of feeling cold or warm."

Hi

Oh the joys the Behcets. I get severe night sweats but also have hot flushes during the day. It is horrible but you are not alone.

Yes, I experience this sweating as well. First, I thought I'm going to menepause again But my RA told me this is also stemming from Behcets.

Hi yes often. Could be new meds, old meds, reducing meds, BD or age related. I have had BD for 27 years and the reason for the sweats is usually one of the above. If you are really concerned best to ask your doctor.

Hugs and Smiles

Hello there Mark,

I'm glad you wrote this because I get a flair up every night as well.

It's the only time I show any signs of arthritis/arthralgia going on. My knees get swollen and get red and blotchy. I generally feel as though I'm being overheated in a microwave oven that I cannot switch off... makes sleeping almost impossible....

I'm so glad you were brave enough to put this up here! Lately I've been having that exact same problem, and its really not fun to deal with. I have always had issues with heat ever since I was a teen-- I have severe heat intolerance and was diagnosed with a "cholinergic" urticarial (heat allergy) at 19. I can get very ill from either being in the heat or from having my body temperature rise. I start blowing up really quickly to the point of nearly suffocation, my vessels swell badly and thump and jab with piercing pain, I suddenly get very nauseous, I start to feel light-headed and very foggy in my mind, and my skin will swell and heat right up and turn very flushed red-- sometimes my skin will also break open with cracks or have bruise-like lesions appear suddenly, but since I've had my Remicade infusions increased, my skin doesn't flare-up quite as bad from the heat or sun anymore. As I started getting more and more sick from the Behcet's, I began noticing that during these heat flush attacks, I would also start sweating very uncontrollably-- usually just on my forehead, neck, and scalp. I also notice when I am really not feeling well and having a flare, I sometimes have excessive sweating as one of my symptoms. This doesn't happen during every flare, but lately it seems to be occurring a lot, probably because its very hot outside now. The last couple of weeks have been rough for me as here in Canada where I live, the summer is heating up very quickly! My body doesn't like it so much, so I try my best to stay cool inside with fans and central air. Usually once my body starts heating up and going into a "heat" attack, its very hard to reverse everything from flaring up and affecting me, so the best thing is prevention. I also will mention that when I have excessive sweating I often will feel feverish chills and clammy skin, but my temperature can read normal. Maybe this is just part of being unwell.

If I wake up so knackered because I've barely slept or barely had any good quality sleep - all due to pain issues - I find that I get a hot and cold feverish sweating episode reminding me that I've not taken my morning tablets because I've been confused and have forgotten and especially so if I'm woken by a phone call or a knock at the door from the postman.

Before my diagnosis I used to get sweating feverish episodes every day or night but that was an 8 year nightmare roller coaster I hope I will never go through again.

Hot and cold flushes - well at least I know how a badly plumbed toilet feels.......
