positive HPV smear

I had my smear test last week and after having smear tests for years this one has come back HPV positive with abnormal cells called low grade dyskaryosis and I’m being sent for a colposcopy. I’m so stressed what does this mean do I have cervical cancer??

Hello, no it doesn't mean cervical cancer. I had my colpocopy back in September but wasn't enough sample so had to go back to do it again results came back as cin1. Got to be re screened next year only smear to see if hpv has gone. It is worrying though. Low grade is not usually anything to be worried over. Hope this helps.

Same here 👍 2 Colposcopies September and December 2023 as first one was unsuccessful! I was prescribed estrogen pessaries for 3 months! The second Colposcopy was successful and came back with CIN1 biopsy result! Yearly smear tests recommended! Was a bit shocked as letter came right before Christmas! I felt extremely uneasy and unsettled about that result! But I have calmed down and I will weather this storm with God's help!👍🙏

I had an abnormal cell result and a colostomy. I had cin3 cells and had a lletz treatment to remove these. It took about 20 minutes and was fine, a few cramps after but fine with just ibuprofen and paracetamol. I've gone on to have normal results since then and had 2 children with no problems. It doesn't mean you have cancer, and if you have because you've been tested, chances will be good for treatment. Jo's cervical cancer website was great for information, as I was so scared when it happened to me. I hope your results come back OK xx
