I've had genital warts for a year now, tried freezing and Aldara at GUM clinic for eight months and that didn't work. Tried Bazuka and Apple Cider Vinegar for a month and it's just getting worse. I'm losing hope! I need help. Will it be like this forever? I've heard the virus becomes dormant after two years

Try taking steps to improve your overall immunity: no sugar, diet improvements etc.
Do you smoke? Are you stressed? Have you been unwell? All these things lower the immune system, making it more difficult for your body to fight the virus. Freezing is good if you go regularly, every 1-2 weeks.
Sorry to hear your warts are causing you problems. Did you use the Aldara continuously? It's important to us 3 times a week and continue for 3-6 months without stopping. Regular cryo (freezing) as well can help. Have you tried Warticon? For some people a change of treatment can help.
Definitely stop smoking if you do.
They will go away eventually but it can be very frustrating in the meantime.
Do go back to your locum GUM clinic and talk to them.
Kind regards.
I tried the Aldara twice but it caused sores and got so bad at one point I couldn't walk so doctor told me to stop.
I live in the U.K. and I don't think warticon is available here.
How long will they take to go away on their own? Taking vitamin C tablets (1000mg) at the moment.
Thankyou so much for your help
Hi sgrgjg,
Warticon has had some supply issues in the last year but is available in the UK.
Soreness from Aldara is well recognised as a side effect. It can be reduced by taking a short break until the skin settles then restarting. You can also drop it to twice or even just once a week instead of three times.
Depending on the area the warts cover make sure you're not using too much cream. You don't have to use the whole sachet. If you can make one sachet last two or three treatments you end up with 2 or 3 months worth from one box. Saves the NHS a little (Aldara is over £50/box!).
The reaction is, in a way, is good thing. It's your immune system being stimulated by the Aldara.
Difficult to say how long they will take to go on their own, but realistically probably several years. I would encourage you to visit your local clinic and get some advice.
Kind regards.

Hi there, i know exactly what you are going through, as i had them for years, the treatment they give you is no good and is very painful, i must say i was at my wits end when i had them, so uncomfortable and after the treatment even worse, in the end i had them removed by surgery and since then everything has been ok, i have not had them since, i wish you luck and hope you find a solution x
