Hello everyone. So I recently got birth control. I was told to start it the Sunday after I started my period. So I got my period (I think) but it only lasted a day. I started the birth control and I’m on say 3 and I have severe cramps. Like as if I would be on my period. I’m not sure what it is. Is this a normal side affect or is it because the bleeding wasn’t actually my period. Also I took a morning after pill this month and I’m not sure if that’s affecting my body even more. Thanks in advance.

Levonelle can alter your bleeding pattern , so your period can come early/late. If you have had abdominal discomfort and also bleeding and taken EC in the last month, worthwile doing a pregnancy check just in case. You can start the combined pill any time in your cycle, but as it could mask the signs of early pregnancy, perhaps that is why they suggested taking it after your period. Severe cramping would not normally be a side effect of the combined pill.
