Mirena Coil - Changes To Side Effects???

Hi, I'm new here.

I've had my Mirena Coil 23months - Can side effects just change out of nowhere?

It took around 8months for my bleeding to settle (I had irregular bleeding after giving birth to my 2nd child) this is the only thing that seems to have settled it down, I do sometimes get a brown discharge which I assume is probably when I would usually get a period and I haven't been concerned but the last 3weeks I have had an on/off cramp, little back pain, brown discharge and v.light red streak when going to the toilet.

I had the discharge, back pain and cramp over a week ago, this went away for a week and then today the cramp has returned with the v.light bleeding.

I've not had the cramp or back pain before and also the one week gap between discharge/bleeding, usually I find they happen within a couple of days of each other when this does happen.

The cramp is not severe just a change to the norm.

I will try to get nurse appt. to have the coil checked but wondered if anyone else has had anything similar?

Unscheduled bleeding can happen with the Mirena IUS. the brown discharge is old blood . Bleeding can sometimes trigger bacterial vaginosis , and the IUS increases the risk of BV a bit, so might be worth having a test for that .
