I’ve recently been diagnosed with herpes and honestly I’m struggling to deal with it and accept it. I’m so afraid that this is going to greatly impact my life and I’ll be unhappy forever. I feel like no one will ever want to be with me ever again because of it :(. Has anyone who has herpes had similar thoughts or have had any luck in the department of looking for love/ resuming a normal sex life

Hi, I ended up catching it off my old boyfriend and I understand how you feel but don't worry, it doesn't change much just let the other person know when the time is right and use a condom

I was recently diagnosed as well and felt the same way. It was really hard especially during my first outbreak. Since then, I have been able to be in a normal relationship and still have a sex life. It was really hard telling me partner but they were understanding and as long as you explain it in a calm way with all the facts, it should be fine. The most important thing I had to remember was at the end of the day, it’s just a skin condition. A pretty minor one at that. And if you having it ruins being in a relationship with you for them, they don’t genuinely like you anyway. I wish you all the best and it does get easier.
