PCOS

Hi I have also recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I have been trying to conceive for 18 months, After 1 year I went to my GP and they sent me to have blood tests to check my hormones. My prolactin levels came back high, so I have had repeated tests since and a referral was made to endocrinology. They also told me my progesterone levels were low. At my consultation I was asked questions about symptoms, I told the doctor about irregular periods, weight struggles, facial hair, and feeling low. They were all signs on PCOS, but I went for a check on my ovaries where they found cysts on both ovaries and they are enlarged. This confirmed I have PCOS. I am struggling to come to terms with this. I have since been sent for MRI scan to check pituitary gland, as they may find why the prolactin levels are so high. I am awaiting results. I am unsure as to whether the high prolactin levels are relating to PCOS or not. I have been told I will need to go back to my GP to be referred to a fertility clinic, but my partner will need to have sperm check first. The only thing I can say is be aware at how long these things take. I went to my GP last November and I can’t go to fertility clinic until after July when my husband has had his tests (he has had to wait 8 weeks). Hope this helps somewhat.
