I found out I have hsv2 recently. I've been using aciclovir whenever I have an outbreak. Is there anything I can be doing to prevent outbreaks from happening? Would it also be beneficial to let my body fight it rather than antiviral a and let the immunity build itself up?
Thanks

Sleep, stay healthy, etc. I found it was linked to my periods as time went on and now I've had a hysterectomy I barely get it so there may be a hormonal link? I have found over time my outbreaks are much more manageable and don't bother me - I find that I just pop the blisters they stop itching and it heals up quick x
Thanks, should have said I'm male. I exercise regularly, I run 3 times a week but still seem to have outbreaks. Hopefully over time they become less frequent, already they are less severe than initial outbreaks
Get in salt bath. Normal salt works but sea salt the best you can get 25kg for £20.00 of eBay it prevents mine and also shortens the time if I do have 1
If you have outbreaks...Smash a garlic wipe it through lession then after get some cotton put apple cider leave over night and chew a garlic clove every day .... Outbreak almost not come back and you don't notice that you have it

Have a read up on herpes.org and sphere website. You will worry so much less when you know the facts and realise that it's not as bad as you think it is!! Did they tell you if it's type 1 or 2? Did they give you any acyivlor to take in the future?
Hi, I read up a bit on this recently and I understand to prevent outbreaks you eat more foods that contain more lysine amino acids as opposed to arginine. Arginine feeds the herpes virus.

I've been taking Lysine supplements 1000mg a day for 10 months and haven't had a cold sore or out break since. I also didn't have a cold all winter whilst my housemates had several. Can only assume Lysine's ability to disrupt viruses forming has played a part there as well. Order online, it's very affordable. When I'm tired or rundown I have doubled my dose just in case, taking one at night as well as in the morning, good luck with it. (Ps the pills are large but they can be chewed which breaks them into a chalky slightly sweet powder or blended into a smoothy where they are unnoticeable)
Very interesting read. I've suffered with herpes ever since I was a child but it's only been the last few years where I think (still awaiting test results) I have genital herpes. I wondered if this can cause mood swings, any thoughts welcome.
I came across a site which lists the quantities of Lysine verses arginine naturally occurring in foods. I realise I've been self dosing with Lysine for sometime but only recently had been off these foods due to travel. Perhaps a link. Anyway web address below if anyone is interested.
