Abnormal bleeding

Hi ladies I've had lower pelvic pain on my right side for the last year, it's only really noticeable as I go from sitting up to laying down or vide versa with the odd aches and twinges.. I recently went to the gp and am waiting on an ultrasound next week. I started bleeding a week ago.. It was bloody discharge for about 3 days then turned into a light/medium period type bleed.. I wasn't too worried when I first started bleeding as I've had the pain a year and thought if it was anything too serious I'd of started bleeding before now.. The pain used to start day 1 of my period and last for 3 weeks I went on the pill and it helped with the pain but doesn't seem to work anymore. Any advice or experiences would be great..
