This website with the views, comments, questions, etc I found helpful as it reminded me that I am not the only one who has a loved one who is unique. Its hard sometimes to cope but knowing that I am not the only wife who is going through this helps the pain, the hurt and stress that goes with loving someone who is not diagnosed with Aspergers. My husband is finally opening up to me and letting me into his world but its a very slow process. I look for all the positive cases of people who have been diagnosed as asperges and are in the limelight whether its a sport person, someone famous, to show my husband its not the end of the world. We are all different but someone of us are very unique and once accepting that its the first step.

I was diagnosed 8 months ago at 38 years old and female. My life has not changed at all through diagnosis except for the fact that it may make it easier for other people to understand my difference. I have worked hard all my life to hide my true self and to understand other people. I am a Science teacher and my hero Albert Einstein was suspected of having Aspergers, although diagnosis was long after his time. I do not believe Aspergers is a disease or even a syndrome, simply a different but perfectly able and functional brain. Get your husband to google "neurodivrsity" A lot of us feel this way, we do not feel like we need to be fixed because we are not broken. Diagnosis feels a bit difficult but even the medical community have strong advocates for this "neurodiversity"argument.

Also remember that your husband is doubtless going to go through some emotional ups and downs, give him space and quiet to do this but let him know you are there none the less. I have felt overwhelmed by people at times of great stress and deal better on my own initially-something my family hate and do not really understand but they kindly accept.
