Hi Champ

I have never heard of Revestarol. What is it?

With regard to taking other vitamins for FA the one I would absolutely recommend is Coenzyme Q10. We don't know how or why this can be beneficial, more research is needed to look at this, but anecdotally others have found it useful in helping with speech and generally having more energy. It doesn't work for everyone but it is safe to take and worth a try.

Hi HarryB

Resveratrol is a naturally occurring medication found in grape skin, berries and nuts. It has a number of properties, including protection of nerve cells and is an anti-oxidant. Laboratory studies in the Bruce Lefroy Centre also showed that resveratrol increased the levels of frataxin in cells from people with Friedreich Ataxia. Resveratrol appears to be well tolerated and has minimal side effects. A number of trials of resveratrol in a number of different medical conditions have been completed or are underway.

You can purchase resveratrol online from Holland & Barrett. I buy 500mg strength.
