Hi Iain and Dontay

Which is your daughter in the picture Dontay? Both girls look lovely and very happy!

My writing has always been slow Iain but it has got worse, both in slowness and legibility. I recently found some notes from University about 15 years ago and I was shocked how much my handwriting as changed. I try to write as little as possible and prefer to type on my iPad/computer. Often the most difficult part is actually gripping a pen. Although it is easier to grip fatter pens I find thinner ones easier to write with. Fatter ones should be easier-I am strange!!

I saw the picture of the two of them. I heard the walk was a good day. It is being organised again this year and I would like to do it this time. Do you think the girls will do it again?

i can only write for a short time before my hands and arms ache, nerves start twitching and by then i cant even read what i have written. i try to get others to write things for me or use the laptop but using the computer also causes me problems.

I very seldom write and when I do its very short or to sign my name. I find my writing not too bad actually but do feel a slight shake. I am right handed. My ataxia is significanly worse on the left side of my body so I guess I'm a bit lucky. If I were left handed then I would struggle to write at all.

my son (14) has progressive cerabella ataxia and his handwriting is very poor. next year he will be doing standard grade exams and hopefully get a scribe but he will have to show to do some work concerning tables, graphs etc.

Oh yes, my writing can be VERY interesting!

I do try to do some every day though because my sister, who also has ataxia, stopped and finds it very difficult now.

I have discovered that if I write lists, to help me remember stuff, capital letters help. Otherwise I cannot read them!
