Should they be called questions?

Just a thought.

I do like being able to start a topic or discussion, rather than ask a question. For instance 'Tips that people have found work for them'.

For a number of years I have used extended walking poles instead of walking sticks.

Hi Litty

Yes, I see what you mean.

Questions and Blogs are the names used for the two main ways of interacting with people here. It will be interesting to see how people use them, and whether the names are useful or not. I think the idea behind the naming is to make it easier to know where to look for answers to specific points (as opposed to reading and sharing experiences more generally).

Both Blogs and Questions allow other community members to comment on them, so there isn't a a great difference between the way the two work technically. (But I can ask the HealthUnlocked team more about this.)

For now, I've made you a 'blogger', which means you can start topics of conversation and post them to the community blog. Does that help?

Hi there

Ah yes! I was being thick.

To be honest, I have not really ever blogged and only use the discussions areas. I shall be brave though!

Just so you know. User error again probably, but last night I wrote a bit of my profile and went to add a bit more just and pressed 'edit' and it all went so I need to start again. I think.

You will be starting to wish you had not invited me to join!

Also being slow again, sorry, what do you mean when you say I am a 'blogger"?

Oh another thing.

I am sure user error again .. Is the Hospital section up and running yet? I wrote a review last night of The National Neurology Hospital in London but cannot find it.

Hi Litty

The hospital section is not up and running yet. I am so sorry you wrote a review and now you can't find it-I understand how frustrating that is.

The hospital section is not up and running yet. We would like to get the discussion forum bit up and running first and then plan to get the hospital section underway. I hope that you will be able to write your review again in a few weeks!

Thank you.

Half of it is there. I thought I must have done it wrong!

No, I don't think it was very clear what the difference is...

And very glad to have you here. We need to find out how this works, what's clear and what's not, so it's really helpful to do that by having people just getting on and using it, and pointing out any problems.

I hope it doesn't become too frustrating!

And by blogger, I just meant that you're now able to post in the blogs section. It's not enabled by default (which I understand is a security feature from HealthUnlocked), and needs to be enabled by a moderator (me or HarryB).

Believe me it is me! My kids will have hysterics when I tell them what I am doing. My daughter is a primary teacher and tests all her lower ability lessons out on me first to see if they can do them!

I am very happy to help if you can cope with the idiot questions!

Ah I see about the blogger!

I found some of my hospital review.

Was it me, or should my profile have stayed put so I could add to it? I had a bit of trouble finding my profile to alter, but that could be me again being slow. I thought it would have a link on the home page.

Enough ramblings!

Hi Lit

I did giggle at what you said about what your daughter does. My Mum and step-dad bought a new computer at the weekend and I am getting all the questions. Some of the questions seem ridiculous and laughable to me but that is only because I know the answers. I have to remember, I was in their position once upon a time learning about computers and asking the same ridiculous and laughable questions! In my opinion there is no such thing as an idiot question!

I am not sure what is going on with your profile. Had you saved what you had already written by pressing the save button at the bottom right hand corner of the box, even though you hadn't finished?

Lol .. user error again I think! I am true to form at least. I will experiment but I think I forgot to 'Save'.

Lit

I like the idea of either a 'question' or a 'blog'. I might be wrong but I think it may prevent people getting confused between whats a blog and whats a discussion/topic. I think you could still begin a topc/discussion by asking a question first.
