Leg Strength Change

Twice in last 6 months I’ve experienced a big change in leg strength. Once after plasma exchange (which lasted about 2/3 months), and again this week after a diet change. The only benefit was that it has made getting up from a seated position extremely easy. Has anyone else experienced this? No other symptoms of Ataxia have improved so far. I haven’t gone gluten free! I appreciate that this phenomenon may have nothing to do with the plasma exchange or change of diet, and simply be a coincidence. I thought it was worth sharing this as I’m 100% sure it’s not imagined. The change was not gradual, but overnight each time!

Hi

I am trying to increase my protein intake and build up my strength through exercise and have definitely noticed a difference in my energy and hopefully mobility

I have even got back in the pool and hope that relearning my breathing and co ordination will help as well

Let you know but definitely diet and exercise are making me feel better and stronger 😀 good luck

My leg strength change has not been gradual, which is what makes it peculiar. Essentially it happened overnight!

Apart from almost catapulting me out of the chair each time I get up, there is no other benefit…it’s so weird.

Wow sounds good. Keep note of anything you did differently. I have changes sometimes during the day too, not sure what causes mine. Possibly the autonomic nervous system, emotions too can effect this. Once I woke up "normal" it was amazing but unfortunately only lasted about half an hour!Hope it continues for you 👍

Sounds absolutely incredible to wake up ‘normal’, even for 1/2 an hour! It’d be interesting to know what a neurologist would make of that.

I did not even think to mention it at appointments?????Don't know why, maybe there's not enough time to say everything??????

Sure will if it happens again.
