Did you know that 28% of those who responded to our Wellbeing Survey in 2022 said they live alone? This suggests that a large proportion of the community is at risk of isolation and loneliness.

Earlier diagnosis means those with ataxia can look for treatments and meet new friends from the community. If we push for a quicker diagnosis, we can reach out to all our newly diagnosed friends and engage them with the community.

Our friend Bayram told us, "Thanks to Ataxia UK, I’ve felt less lonely, and I know that I can always reach out to someone if I need support."

Together, let’s raise awareness and support those affected by ataxia. No one should go undiagnosed. You can help end slow ataxia diagnosis by walking a copy of the Ataxia UK medical guidelines to your local GP surgery this autumn.
