yesterday I watched a Q and A with Dr Periman in the U S . She mentioned several drugs that could be used for helping tremors and balance. I wonder if these are permitted in this country. If so, does anybody get to help for with medication myself I am only prescribed vitamins

🙂If you are still seeing a Neurologist, you could ask about these medications. Or, ask your GP if any could be prescribed for you.

Hi, both my daughter and I are prescribed Gabapentin for tremors, which does help. It was prescribed to me by my neurologist and my daughter's was prescribed by her paediatric neurologist. I hope this might help.

Have you attended an ataxia clinic? You should get good advice from them.

There’s a ton of stuff on the internet about possible medical treatments for tremors. Not all are effective. I’ve been prescribed Propranolol and Topiramate. Neither worked for me. That’s not to say they won’t work for someone else. I have Cerebellar Ataxia, and in my humble opinion pretty devastating tremors!

I am taking Flunarizin-CT 5 MG Hartkapsein.

On the box it says "This medicine is unlicensed in the UK" It is a German drug proscribe by Professor Hadjivassiliou at Sheffield Ataxia Center.

Before taking the drug I was mostly chair bound and had trouble moving my arms and head.

The drug has made a big differences to my day to day living.

I have Gluten Ataxia and Cerebellar Atrophy.
