With me it suddenly started 2 days ago. I looked the symptoms up on google(disliked by the medical profession) but there nothing was for me since Ataxia was, as expected, not considered. I have a late onset cerebellum Ataxia and was diagnosed in 2005.
Since the cerebellum controls many muscles , I wonder if it also controls the lower oesophageal sphincter (LES).
This would be an explanation for this heartburn.
What to do?

I do, I've been taking Omeprazole for almost 7 years. A few months ago I had an endoscopy down the oesophagus and they found a hiatus hernia - this is most likely causing the heartburn, but last summer I also had a videofluoroscopy which shows food travelled slowly down my oesophagus (which also doesn't help).
The oesophagus is a muscular tube, and although I haven't researched much about it (nor am I medically trained), my guess is that it's also affected by my ataxia. I have a spinocerebellar ataxia.
I have a call with a gastroenterologist at National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in July, so hope to find out more.
I also suffer from heartburn and take Omerprozole and also had an endoscopy about 5 years ago I presume its ataxia related as I have to be careful with diet and times I eat cant eat after 7 pm and have to avoid lots of food types spicy especially
