Disclosing a disability in job applications

Hi everyone

I am currently applying for new jobs and as part of the application process there is a section asking if 'you consider yourself to have a disability'. I know that Ataxia is a disability, but can anyone advise what the implications are for ticking this box?

I was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia in October 2021 (aged 30) and currently work full time. I work in a desk-based role and do not require any adjustments to do my current job.

I am just curious if anyone has experience with this and if it is a good idea to disclose this information in an application (note: you do not have to disclose your specific condition).

Hi MattI would let them know as if might cause legal issues if you don’t also insurance issues.

In some cases it might help you get the job as some companies have to take on so many disabled people.
