Indoor handrails

I was given some of these stairs handrails that I've installed myself. The one in my living room is in the photo and is easier than furniture surfing my way around the room. Also, it's good for holding onto whilst doing leg exercises using the red and green resistance elasticated aids hanging on the end.

I've also got one along the wall next to my bed. Getting out of bed, particularly in the night, can be the time I'm most in need of support reassurance.

The metal fittings and wooden handrail are available at most DIY stores such as B&Q.

I've fitted these into brick walls using rawl plugs and 50mm screws.

I've also had fitted outside grab bars as featured in some recent posts. Someone strong and heavy should be able to hang off any of these fixtures without there being any chance of them failing.

🙂 Having grab rails at strategic points can help with confidence, I’ve seen examples on another support group where someone literally moved from one grab rail to the next to get around a room.

brilliant .. I wish we had more 'available' walls but we do have grab rails next to each doorway x The next project will be handrail outside like those on decking [not the ropes LOL]

Hello sailor..... if you contact your local Social Services, ask them if you can have a frame fitted to the side of your bed to help you get in/out of bed.... they fitted one for me..... it is a god send!

It’s on permanent loan.
