Hi everyone and thanks in advance for your replies.
I wanted to know about speech therapy lessons.
I have SCA1 and my speech is becoming slurred. I went to SLT and they wanted to put a tube down my throat instead of giving me exercises to correct my speech. I won't say more...
Thanks

I too have slurred speech problems. Following an appointment at the Ataxia Department at UCH London in January I was offered five on line speech therapy sessions. They mostly consisted of practising various tongue twisters which you can easily access on line and if you have a printer you can down load them. There may be books of them which you could probably get from Amazon. I find that if I practise them for about twenty minutes each day my speech does become a little easier. It’s not a cure but it certainly helps.
Thanks, I go to uclh and the ataxia department sent me to a SLT who wanted to test instead of therapy. I would like to mention your case to uclh - can I do that?
Yes - of course you can quote my case. I don’t know what SLT is? I do think you would benefit from practising tongue twisters. I try to do them when my husband is out so as not to sound ridiculous!
