Muscle locks & muscle spasms

Hello, I’m just wondering if anyone has been given Carbamazepine to help with muscle cramps/locks & spasms? I was taking baclofen, I’ve also tried tonic water & magnesium, but it didn’t seem to do much help in stopping or reducing them, so my neurologist has now prescribed me the above. I do take pregablin & other medication some of them opiates for pain relief for polyneuropathy & other illnesses, but the pain with my muscles is now taking over my life, I can’t sleep at night or through the day due to waking up screaming out in pain & being stuck in a position & unable to move, it also happens if I’m a position watching telly-once I attempt to I’ve it’s like they’ve ceased up & locked & I literally can not cope with it any longer. I’m just wondering if anyone else has taken the above & did it help? Many thanks in advance for any help you maybe able to give.

I wasn’t aware Carbamazepine helped with cramps. I have been on it for two years, but Prof Giunti prescribed them to help reduce the frequency of escalated symptoms during an episodic attack. I am on Baclofen for cramps that works well 💜

No I wasn’t aware either hence why I was asking if anyone else were taking them? I’ve tried the Baclofen & they were fabulous for knocking me out but then a couple of hours later I were screaming in pain😢

Aaw bless you. Have you tried spacing the Baclofen dose out through the day. I was struggling with being knocked out with them. My Dr suggested I do two in morning, one in afternoon and three at night. It works really well and definitely helps reduce the cramps without knocking me out 💜

Have you ever tried a CBD product? I was taking Baclofen for years, but like you, it was only good for a few hours, then I would get horrible cramps in my calves where I would wake up screaming. But, for over 2 yrs now, I haven't a spell like I used to get, That doesn't mean I don't have extreme leg pain caused by the nerves dying, but nothing like I had before. I take 2 CBD gummies at night and 300 mg of Gabapentin and I sleep relatively well throughout the night, I wasn't even aware of Carbamazepine? Sounds similar to Gabapentin? 2 great CBD companies I use is HempBombs.com for the variety of different products and then Lazurusnaturals.com because they actually have a disability assistance program where you can save on their products.

Cheers!
