I dictate emails but spend a lot of time adding punctuation and rewriting, I cannot see the huge keyboard I have clearly, and never learned typing. I can cope with this, just, it is tiring but would love to dictate onto FB, any technology out there? It would be great to not have to look at the keyboard at all, with nystagmus that develops with head movement and looking away from directly in front on eye level, or is worse if any tiny cold comes along. I cannot do much at all except limited exercise so FB is very important to me. Any suggestions welcomed.
Writing, typing any suggestions?: I dictate emails... - Ataxia UK
Writing, typing any suggestions?
I can see my keyboard which is new. The keys are coloured and have big letters on them. From experience I know roughly where the letters are but the keyboard uses a keyguard which stops me striking the wrong key. The keyguard is the the most important feature. Got new keyboard through NHS from NWAT North West Assistive Technologies.
I also use Plexkeys and have looked at voice dictation software. I use Listary all the time.
Thank you very much. I think you may have posted before but this time I have found it online! Yes, this would help me, at least I could rest my hands, maybe have the angle of the keyboard even higher. Thank you also for the dictation software name, I'll look into that as well, mine is American English which is not the same as UK English!
Have you tried Dragon Dictate? This will work with Facebook.
Thank you, very much. I looked it up but would be so expensive for windows. It seems cheap for a mac. If my speech or ability gets any worse I will look again at your suggestion, many thanks for making it, knowing someone with Ataxia uses it really helps. For the time being what I did find was dictate on google docs which is better than what I was using, but not for FB. It is interesting how I am now thinking in whole sentences before speaking as dictate works well like that, so maybe I'll become verbally more eloquent?
