Have any of you got gastrointestinal issues and had it suggested that you would find it easier with a colostomy bag. If you have or have done the op I would really appreciate your thoughts and experience. Thanks in advance

Wat kind of gastrointestinal issues do you have? I’ve noticed that in de last few months I’ve been having problems with Pain in my stomach and bowels, feeling really full and sick after eating just a little and getting severely bloated during the coarse of the day (my belly is 10-12 cm bigger at night compared to the morning). My GP has no idea what to do with this, having done Some standerd checks. Is this more commen for people with ataxia? I’ve never had any allergies for anything. Just out of the blue. Was wondering if my symptoms look anything like yours.

Hi, I have pain in my intestines that lasts a few weeks at a time and then just as mysteriously disappears again. The drs have said it is muscle contractions in my intestines.

I also suffer from constipation most of the time. I have no problem with food passing through my system. My problem is that my anal sphincter contacts too. So when that happens I really can't get anything out!!!! No good forcing it as then I end up with piles! Often have to self enema.

Sorry to be so graphic!

What exactly is your digestive problem and is it related to the Ataxia? If so then do you know what type of ataxia you have. I have been told that I have some type of genetic SCA, but to date we don't know which gene.

Take care

Love
