Has Vitamin E supplements helped ataxia for some?

My neurologist has told me to ask doc for prescribed vitamin E tabs as my vitamin E levels are borderline low. Has anybody else been proscribed vitamin E and have they helped to improved ataxia symptoms?

I have been prescribed Vitamin e,same as you my levels were borderline and personally I think they help just with your overall wellbeing and I have gastric troubles and I feel they help 😀

I was the same but did not help me and my doc will not prescribe any vit tablets

I too was prescribed vit E but I didn’t notice any difference. Levels went back up quickly and I stopped using them. After 6 months checked levels again but they remain normal now.

GPs aren't permitted, by NICE guidelines, to prescribe any supplements including co-enzyme q10.

Thanks for all your replies. I have gastric trouble too Claire and hope the meds will help. I don't understand why doc won't prescribe vit tabs for you xray and shield. I have to pick up prescription today. I've to keep taking tabs for six to twelve months to see if any progress has been made Meekster. If not then I've to stop them. What are NICE guidelines Shield?
