Weights

I am recovering from a fall and have developed an annoying shake in my hands, when stressed. My neuro-physio recommended I try light ankle and wrist weights, I THINK they are helping my walking and definitely make you stronger.

I wondered if weights on my torso may help so I bought a weighted vest and removed all but 2. I THINK it helps but I get hot easily and will need to try it again when colder and winter.

Earlier I have tried a sensory belt but I found it too heavy. I had weights spare from vest so my physical therapist helped me to stick 2 to an old cycling belt he had given to me for my phone when I did not have a pocket. I may move better but the weights certainly make you stronger x

Dear Litty,

I use two knee high stockings in each I have the open ankle weights, tied a knot at the feet (side) put in the respective weight in each stocking and use around my wais as a belt I do a bough in front and wear it under a Tshirt round the house and find it helps to stabilize me and make me stronger at the same time.

cheers

Isabel

🙂 I haven't tried 'weighting' anything myself but I can well understand the relief of feeling 'grounded'. At one time I felt as though I 'bobbed' along, hard to put into words like many ataxia symptoms😏 Sometimes being inventive can lead to an unexpected discovery😉 I'm sorry to hear about the annoying shake Litty, hopefully it'll lessen as you recover from the fall, and the wrist weights will help. 🙂xB
