What the difference between cerebral palsy and cereballar ataxia

Hi everyone. This might be a silly question but can anybody tell me what the difference between cerebral palsy and and cerebellar ataxia is? as I have both

Hi Anne,

the simplest way to explain it is that cerebellar ataxia affects one part of the brain - the cerebellum and there are many reasons why this part of the brain can be affected.

Cerebral palsy is damage to the brain before or during birth - and can affect any part of the brain. The damage to the brain doesn't get any worse with cerebral palsy but its effect on the body may - for example when children stop having physiotherapy when they become adults it can affect their mobility.
