Speak with your treating doctor if you have any queries
Hi Anne,
the simplest way to explain it is that cerebellar ataxia affects one part of the brain - the cerebellum and there are many reasons why this part of the brain can be affected.
Cerebral palsy is damage to the brain before or during birth - and can affect any part of the brain. The damage to the brain doesn't get any worse with cerebral palsy but its effect on the body may - for example when children stop having physiotherapy when they become adults it can affect their mobility.
Hope that helps a bit?
