Hi does anyone else have problems with their ankle rolling out? If so what do you use to help?

I am unsure what you mean by rolling out but i do have ankle problems my ankles seem to just give on me and I spoke to my physiotherapist who gave me exercises and ankle splints that help a lot.

u believe anklerollingisthe result of a stroke where theankle isaffected  and the affected foot  cnt be placed flat n thefloor but on one side of the foot esp the outer side butthis conditioncsan be improved by stretching the muscles justbelow the calf area aswas told by my physiotherapists. i am a stroke survivor for the last 13 yrs with left foot ankle problem ut undergoing rehab exercises  hopingto get betterwithmy walking and nowdepending on my mobility electric scooter to move round

Hi, I have very week ankles and when walking they turn inwards at times resulting in a fall , near fall. About four yr ago was seeing a neuro physio who suggested orthotic boots. Saw orthotist measured me up for some ankle boots, strengthened around ankle area and a slight flare out the way on sole. These boots are my all foot wear very lost without them. Find it very difficult to walk just a few steps in slippers, shoes even a normal ankle boot now, very unsteady, and mainly my right ankle turns in and get a lot of foot pain. These boots help me a lot can walk further still in the ataxia manner, but without my feet going in the way the flared soles help a lot, if foot starts to go in it sort of stops and foot goes back normal position. No one realises the boots look slightly different to normal and it also helps that ankle boots are in fashion, can be worn with anything I find. Hope you find a solution.

I agree with D1DG3 - I just retired from work at the end of last year and managed for years wearing boots during the day. Although I still do this sometimes, I usually wear hand-made orthotic ankle splints - they are so comfortable, like a second skin, and make my ankles feel stable and strong, giving me the confidence to transfer etc alone whilst my partner is at work.

Hi Nik have your ankles dislocated most times they flirt back. also knee caps can come out also which you leave for paramedics due to trap nerves. While await put bag frozen items on to stop it swelling or go in back seat car lying leg straight. Elevate takes a lot of pain away roll two bath towels frozen in T towel. Velcro boots are excellent they go up the part of lower calf. if you need more on the boots get back to me.
