lots of people take vitamin D supplements. It is difficult to know if the amount you're taking is little more than a guess. What is "typical" amount, and how often is it reviewed? Why are UK values so lo?

I don't know what the typical amount is or if there is one, I have been taking 3 400iu tablets per day for approx 3 years now (1200iu) my GP told me this is the maximum safe amount, He told me i needed to take them for life and they are are not available on NHS prescription because the ones he COULD prescribe contain calcium and could lead to a calcium overdose.
