Hi Nigel

I would recommend Kelvingrove Art Gallery/museum in the West End of Glasgow and/or doing a bus tour. I don't know Edinburgh so well I'm afraid.

Hope you have a great time!

Would agree with the art galleries. Also Peoples Palace at Glasgow Green, Riverside Museum. If you do the tour bus the bus stops at both. Also it will be worth taking the train to Balloch to Loch Lomond shores, The Gateway to Loch Lomond. There is an aquarium ans kids entertainment there. Worth it for the views alone.

You could visit Braehead indoor shopping centre which is off the M8 Glasgow to Greenock. Beside the shopping centre is Xcape which is a modern indoor activity and eating places centre. Activities include indoor skiing, adventure play area (ideal for kids) and other activities. You could also visit M&Ds Theme park which is just off the M74 at Motherwell. As well as outdoor rides for all ages it also has indoor amusement activities, places to eat and indoor bowling. I'll send you links to both places Nigel. Both these places are handy for Olympic events. In fact I think rowing events will take place on Strathclyde loch which is located next to the theme park.

Two good links Nigel. Both places are good for kids and I'm sure the Theme park is right across from where the rowing will take place. Also great indoor shopping at Braehead next to Xcape

Also the Transport Museum (if it is still open) Tollcross Park, (I think this is where the swimming competitions are being held). This is in the east end of Glasgow.

Have a lovely time.

Forgot to mention the Glasgow Science centre Nigel. Its located on the opposite side of the clyde over the walk-bridge from the Scottish Exhibition and a Conference Centre. The Triathlon takes place on Strathclyde loch. There is no rowing event. Sorry.
