going to Glasgow next year, need a hotel near the Scottish Exhibition Centre (SEC), or near a station that has regular trains to the SEC

got lucky and managed to get tickets for the Commonwealth Games (Netball and Gymnastics) so staying in Glasgow is not an option, so looking to stay outside and take a train to the venues which are both at the SEC.

I know ther is a hotel next to the SECC Nigel but quite expensive. There is also the Central Hotel situated in Glasgow central station. A very short journey from there would get you to the venue.

not a surprize both hotels at the SECC are sold out, but thank you, as are the central ones in Glasgow, except one which wants a thousand pounds for two nights! I have managed to reserve a room in Edinburgh (near the airport) for £300, wanted to know if this is too far away?

Edinburgh is a good 50 odd milles to Glasgow I think Nigel. Try this link below

I usually find the tourist information people in any town are really knowledgable and helpful and will be able to answer this and may be able to find you somewhere cheaper too - just google tourist info glasgow. Have a good time there! Gill

Hi, I stay in Clydebank and there is a lovely hotel there, The Beardmore, think ataxia had a conference there 2 or 3 years ago, anyway it is about a 5 min taxi journey to Dalmuir train station, goes to SECC about 20 min journey then a short walk from station. i have tickets to the netball also.

unfortunately The Beardmore is sold out. May see you at the Netball, have you the heats or the medal matches?

pity about that. You could go a bit further out and look at B&Bs or guest houses in Balloch, Loch Lomond. Trains and buses go into Glasgow from there. or look at premier Inns. I'm going to first night of netball.
