Hi everyone

I normally use Salbutamol (as well as Seretide 250) but I found a Salamol easy-breathe inhaler in a drawer last week I got last year. Used it for a few days instead of my usual Ventolin but stopped as I developed a wheezy chest which is unusual for me and also had trouble sleeping last night due to tightness between my shoulders. Started my steroids as per my asthma plan but just wondering if the Salamol has brought this on? Anyone else had bad Salamol experiences?

Hi

I can’t use salamol (or any unbranded salbutamol MDI) because they either don’t work properly or trigger me. I just make a point of saying I have to have the ventolin brand when I get MDIs. They give the unbranded because they’re cheaper but it’s not unheard of for people to not get on with them

I hope that helps and that you sleep getter soon

interesting - makes you wonder as to whatever makes the generic drug cheaper reflects on its efficacy.

Hi, I was given easybreathe inhaler but it was no good for me. I didn’t seem to have the right technique and wasn’t sure if I was getting a dose or not. I changed to the normal blue salbutomol inhaler. I find that much better.

So, from my experience, I would say yes, could be.

Hi. I have used Salamol and Ventolin. I cannot feel any difference between them. I just had a look at my Ventolin and Salamol (i just happen to have both today). They both contain Salbutamol. Salamol and Ventolin are brand names. Salbutamol is the chemical we inhale.

I hope this helps. From Ken.

Hi Ken

You're right though I've had problems before when swapped to different generic inhalers - could be a matter of the ingredients used in the manufacturing process. For example I used Sirdupla briefly instead of Seretide and didn't find it as effective. I suppose our bodies react in different ways to different ingredients!
