Seretide 250 v Symbicort 400 12

I have severe copd and my gp has recently changed my inhaler from Seretide 250 (2 puffs twice daily) to Symbicort 400 12 (1 puff twice daily). The Seretide did not seem to be helping my breathing. I would like to hear from anyone who is on Symbicort and how they are getting on with it.

I use Symbicort 200 three times a day 2 puffs and if I am really bad I can have 3 puffs but touch wood I have never had to go this high. Along with this I am on Spiriva and twice weekly Azithromycin. The one thing with the Symbicort is to make sure you do rinse your mouth where possible and if not possible to spit swill the water around your mouth well. I have been lucky so far but one of my friends has had thrush which has been attributed to Symbicort.

Anyway Good Luck

Janet

Sorry forgot haven't had an exacerbation for nearly 6 months since being on this regime :D

I echo Jandan's evaluation.

I use Symbicort 200 and find it helps instantly, even though it is supposed to take twenty minutes!

I have been on symbicort 400mgs x2 puffs per day,for a few years now,& have never had a problem with it.I also take spiriva,& onbrez.I was interested to read some time ago, that some resp.specialists, were encouraging symbicort to be taken with excebations rather than ventolin. That made me wonder, as I also thought that symbicort took a while to work. Maybe not?? I also am supposed to have my ventolin nebules 4 times per day,but in fact I only do it as needed(Naughty girl!) I have severe asthma,& copd,

Hi

I have been on symbicort for a while and find it works well, take twice a day. I was also told that in an emergency could be used as a reliever, I have used it a couple of times and it does have a very quick response.

Please note this is not the official view but was given by a highly qualified person.

I am on symbicort 400 for the last few weeks after being on seretide for years and the difference is like night and day for me..with me it takes about 20 minutes to work but before that i take my ventolin and spiriva inhalers and don`t forget to breathe out as far as you can before breathing in and holding it in as long as you can with all your inhalers.. hope this helps.
