Since changing to Symbicort I have slept much better at night without noisy wheezing and I have coughed up more phlegm. But I cough much more during the day which I never did whilst on Seretide and seem to get breathless more quickly. I wondering if this is a common effect.

Changed from Seretide to Symbicort
Ive been on Symbicort for years Don, only breathlessness I get is when walking, which is bad. Works well for me rest of the time though over the years Ive had to put the dose up. So can't really answer your question as Ive nothing to compare it with.
Cant remember where you are but if it's the UK it's interesting that they've started you on Symbicort now when many UK practices are changing over to a cheaper equivalent.
Glad you're sleeping better - maybe you could ask your doctor about how you are feeling now. Worth discussing.
Thanks 02Trees, I'm in the UK. I think the change is probably due to my age. They've probably worked out that if I end up in hospital, they'd never get me out, now that the Liverpool Pathway to heaven has been stopped. So it's money well spent in the long run and it won't be for all that long I have a review appointment for next month.
It is probably worth checking your technique with either your pharmacist or on YouTube as there are different ways to get the best out of a variety of inhalers.
That's a thought. The sybmicort won't fit into the volumatic I've been used to so they gave me a AeroChamber which incorporates a whistle. I'll check with the pharmacist, thank you.
