Got any ideas how to treat a real stinker of a throat,urgent please,it's agony

Try gargling with salted water, it works for me.

Iv had a chest inf ,then a cold now this ,I'm sick of being I'll this last 3wks

Hi, I had one a couple of weeks ago, just at the end of a chest infection, never experienced anything like it. Was told to take paracetemol and it took about 4 days to abate. Strangely, as it was all I had in, I found ginger ale soothed it! Libby

I know how you feel. Sometimes it just seems to be one thing after the other and it can really start to get you down. Just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. We've been there before and I'm sure we will be again but never give up!

Thank u,that's how it's been ,iv lived at the docs these last few wks I'm really fed up

Meg don't suffer with it for too long, I was ill all over the Easter with what I thought was tonsilitis, Monday managed to get the Doc out because I just couldnt take anymore and he sent me straight to A & E. I had an abcess and it had nearly closed my windpipe off. Don't mean to scare you, just as I said dont suffer for too long.

Just finished an antibiotic for a sinus infection now I have thrush at the back of my throat never had thrush before I started using seritide inhaler.

Copdber, Do you gargle and wash your mouth out after taking your inhaler, that helps to stop the thrush.

Yes caroleoctober I always do but still get it every time I need to take anti b. I get a script now drops along with my anti b.

I like most men wanted to be a hero, it's just a sore throat I said, should have read the instruction manual. I ended up in the ambulance and a week in hospital, I had picked up a bug that normally would just be a sore throat but because of my low resistance turned into something more serious, that involved iv antibiotics and various other pills and potions.

Talk to your GP before it gets too bad

Hope you're now sorted out after the appt. Meg. I use Corvonia throat spray, it contains antiseptic as well as analgesic in an effort to stop the germs going down to my chest.

I also take probiotc capsules from a well known health food shop to avoid thrush. Hope this helps what did doc say? P

Hi there Meg! you could try fresh ginger & honey, the ginger is strong so when you sip the honey & ginger it will feel almost near to hot that's because ginger is quite powerful, squeeze the ginger with a garlic crusher if you have one to get the juice from a bit of ginger the size of a teaspoon then pour a quarter of a small cup of freshly boiled water & mix together then drink it down slowly sipping it preferably, failing this you could try Dr Stuart's Active Botanicals throat relief this is quite soothing & helps to clear a throat I hope your able to try either one of these remedy's if you can & they work for you that's great but failing these I would get your throat seen to urgently! I Hope you get well very soon it would good to know how you are soon!

Doc says it may well b a virus,so can only give an anaesthetic spray,but I still haven't completely got rid of my cold yet,so that's not helping
