Voice/throat

Hello friends, i am just wondering if anyone gets a hoarse voice through taking trelegy preventer inhaler. I have been on it for some years and never had a problem, but just recently my voice and throat gets hoarse and i feel i’m losing my voice. I believe inhalers can do this, but i haven’t had problem before.

I haven’t got a cold or sore throat so it isn’t that.

I use a Trimbow inhaler and I experience the same symptoms even though I do rinse my mouth, gargle and drink water after using it

Hello, yes Trelegy can affect the vocal cords.

As Superfly advises, with water I rinse, gargle and spit after taking it is often helpful.

I have the same meds as in Trelegy but in two inhalers. With water I rinse, gargle and sit after taking each of them every day.

Go well,

Pauline

I’ve experienced an onset of hoarseness too (and I use an Anora Elipta inhaler) but, I’m told, it’s a consequence of my lung disease rather than what I take to control it.

Thank you for replying. I used to have Anoro but it gave me palpitations so gp changed it to Trelegy.

Hi there, yes I get hoarse through using Anora and Incruse inhalers. I rinse and gargle after taking them which does help.

Thank you for your reply. I guess it is the Trelegy that causes hoarseness, i do gargle and rinse each time. I will see gp if it gets any worse.

Try using it before something to eat, like toast in the morning. I find that I don't have much problem with my inhaler if I do this x

hi. I’m currently being investigated as to why my voice isn’t going back to normal. I’m on fostairnexthaler and I gargle after wards My voice comes and goes It breaks up. Usually it goes back to normal after a few weeks but this time it’s been going on since before Christmas. No nasty things going on according to camera so now I’ve been given gaviscon advance incase it’s silent reflux and also a saltwater nasal spray incase it’s from the nose. Xx

I've been told to do steaming by ENT surgeon 3 to 4 times a day. This helps your voice box from many voice problems

I take 1/2 tsp of honey after gargling - think it helps.

Unfortunately Collie4, in respect of inhalers they all can cause this side effect and gargling seems to be the only way to stop it . Worth a try.

Yes i guess it’s inevitable that most inhalers would affect our throat/voice especially ones with steroid in. I do gargle after using it and it does help.

Hi...Do you rinse well after taking it? I've got a hoarse voice but it's because I've got vocal cord dysfunction, my cords don't open correctly. I've got exercises to do, steam inhalation... I went to ENT and they diagnosed me with it.

Hello, yes i do rinse and gargle well after using inhaler, it does help. I’ve learned to live with it but if it gets more troublesome i will speak to gp.
