Can you tell me how I may ask a quest... - Lung Conditions C...
Can you tell me how I may ask a question of local advice to someone on the Costa del Sol Spain. How do I go about it????
What is it you want to know? I lived out there for several years and know where to find out about things, but types of information come from different sources. So to direct you properly, we need a bit more info.
Hi johnwr, thanks for replying. I need to know if I have to refil at an OXY depot. Do I have to pay for travel refil size during my stay .Can I rent a concentrator. Or is there an easy way?
I am starting from scratch. Any advice will be gratefully received.
Assuming you have been prescribed oxygen, and normally live in the UK. Also assuming you are planning a holiday trip to Spain.
1. If you are flying, you need to start your booking process for a flight at least one month before flying if you are going to need oxygen on the flights. Phone your airline's helpline before booking to see if they will accept you as a passenger and what hoops you will have to jump through (doctor's certificate, medical forms, proof of insurance etc), and do they provide oxygen in flight.
2. Check with your oxygen nurse about a portable (ambulatory) concentrator for your trip, or maybe permanently. You should not take UK cylinders abroad. Buying medical oxygen abroad is expensive. If you get a portable concentrator, get euro plug adapters before you travel. Then you can recharge the battery at the airport before and after flying.
Hope this gives you enough to start
