I have chronic broncitis do you ever cough up blood
Hi smudge, I think whenever someone coughs up blood they should get it checked out as soon as poss, because it can be a sign of more serious illness. On saying that I've coughed up blood and was told it was because the walls of the lungs are so thin, they can rupture and bleed, ( I've got Emph as well) You will probably have to go for an x-ray.
I hope that it is nothing to worry about, but I do think you should see the doctor just to be on the safe side and to put your mind at rest. All the best, let us know how you get on, Carol x
I have chest infections every so often. Last time I saw stale blood sputum. I had been doing a lot of coughing which I thought must have caused a minor bleed. For peace of mind I spoke to the nurse. Over the hour the sputum went back to its usual colour,

Hi Smudge. I have sometimes coughed up blood when I have an infection. The nurse told me it was due to a small vein bursting.
I asked if it could be a sign of lung cancer and she said no because there are other symptons with that. Losing weight for no reason can be key sign. I don't lose weight I just put it on
