how many minutes do I do on excersize bike ,I have copd and chronic asthma

I think thats a difficult one to answer as we cannot know how fit you are or at what stage. I would do whatever makes you feel comftable and stop when you have had enough, build it up slowy to avoid muscle damage. Maybe a chat with the BLF nurse would help advise you the best way to start and increase it Happy pedalling

Hi
I asked my GP to refer me to my local gym.
The instructor there has set me a programme but as Julie said, its difficult to answer that question because everyone is different.
Take care

when I started pulmonary rehab they told me to start gently with no resistance and just do a couple of minutes and see how I felt. If ok then a couple of days later they said i could build it up. I think it would depend on how short of breath you are, and how fit your muscles are too. Don't forget to do warm up stretches. Perhaps you could ask your GP to refer you for some PR.

i have just finished pulmonary re-hab ,when i started I could do 2 mins on a low setting i can now do 4 mins on setting six, i think for me that's pretty good ,but as other people have commented every one is different
oh well done whit - that is a good improvement. - I have three more sessions to go. But have decided, along with some of the others on the course to join the gym that the course is held in. We are lucky as they let us join cheaper as we were on the course.

we didn't have that option ,but I got a copy of the exercise sheet and ido them at home . i did my longest ever this morning on the bike ,a whole 5 mins mind I was well and truly puffticated after it
Hi I go to pulmonary rehab and started off doing 1 minute back in November '12 I'm still doing 1 min haha! It must depend on the individual.

Hi Kim, be guided by what your doctor recommends for you, or ask your doctor about an exercise prescription or referral to a pulmonary rehabilitation course, that way you will be medically and professionally guided by what is suitable for you personally.

Listen to your body it let's you know how much exercise is enough for you to do, enjoy the journey not the destination!
My advise, from one exercises every day, is to monitor you oxygen saturation level with a pulse oximeter. Keep your level "around" 90. Focus on proper breathing. Exercise is paramount. Keep it up.
