dealing with tiredness.
Its a difficult one, there are many factors that can relate to this.
Have you talked with you doc about this already? Sometimes its not just down to having damaged lungs, consider sleep apnoea, heart problems, diabetes etc etc..
Pacing yourself helps, don't have two full days in a row, try to space out social, doc / medical dates, I take advantage of having alternate rest days. Rest when you need to.
Do speak with you doc if you've noticed your symptoms of tiredness increasing
had a bad time at xmas and had 5 chest infections in a row and was off work for 4 months, i have been really tired since January. i went back to work 4 weeks ago and for the first 2 days i was more tired than usual, but after 4 weeks seem to have gone back to the same level of tiredness,
Its 1pm and i could quite easily go to bed !!!!
I think you could still be recovering, did pneumonia develop from the chest infections? I've known some people can take 6-9 months to recover from pneumonia fully.
lol stitch , ran out of energy about 11ish - tired eyes started about 11.30, about 12ish head said "get up and do something" but body said "your 'avin a laugh"
lol xx now just sitting watching TV and letting my head and body argue it out - i'm not getting involved in the squabble coz i have worked out that they will keep it up till bedtime and argument over !!!!!! lol
Its fatal for me to put feet up and watch tv during day or evening, guaranteed lights out. Miss many a good viewing that way. When it comes to nearly falling off the chair whilst on computer I know now is the time to get horizontal
Are you sleeping ok through the night?
Happy dreaming Stitch
yes! i wasn't when i first went back to work, was waking every hour but am now back to waking 10 mins before alarm goes off xx
Do a bit rest a bit, difficult when you work though! Don't think people understand it I do 4 hours a day that's it for me come in the house and just potter Val x
It's amazing how familiar all your comments are.
I wake around 4 (ish) most mornings - start to feel I could go back to sleep around 6am, just before alarm due to go off. Work from 8 till around 4.30/5pm, with periods of feeling I need to crawl under a desk for 40 winks, and then home and crash. Same thing every day, until I really can't function properly, then I have to take a sleeping tablet to catch up with myself. I feel (and probably look) like the 'walking dead' most of the time! Toni
an NHS Choices page all about tiredness, hope you find it interesting I did
just found this on an American website - says it all ......
Is tiredness a symptom of COPD?
Tiredness (or fatigue) is a common symptom in
COPD. Tiredness discourages a person from keeping
active, which leads to greater loss of energy, which
then leads to more tiredness. When this cycle begins
it is sometimes hard to break.
Hello krazylady I've copied and pasted here a reply I wrote to RichardAT who is experiencing something similar to you. It may or may not be of help, but I thought it was worth showing it to you.
Quote:
"You may be like me RichardAT and retaining CO2. I had this problem for months before it was diagnosed. As the CO2 levels built up in my bloodstream I became more and more tired, and when they reached a critical level I fell into a state of unconsciousness and was rushed into hospital where various tests established the diagnosis of "CO2 retainer". The problem is now under control by use of a BiPAP machine overnight (not as bad as it sounds) and I find myself wide away now in the morning and without the "hangover head" which was also a problem for me. I no longer doze of during the day either. My CO2 levels are now monitored every month or so by means of an arterial blood sample, taken by the Community Matron who visits me regularly at home.
I hope you find your solution
Kindest regards"

I wish you the best krazylady
I've been tired for years as apparently many people are. I have bouts of waking up in the early hours and this can go on for weeks, sometimes I get back to sleep and at other times I'm up all night. Then when it's time for the alarm I want to go to sleep but it's work time! Then when I get home I dare'nt sleep because I won't drop off at night if I do so I go to bed about 11 and the cycle repeats itself. Then there times when I sleep through the night but still wake up feeling tired. I've been like that all winter, now I'm in the wake up in the early hours phase again.
Wiggins - exactly my sleep pattern and i want to sleep when i get home from work but worry i wont sleep at night too!
Elian - thanks so much, i think i need to see my doctor, mainly because by the end of the week i am in bed by 8 or 9, i look forward to a good nights sleep and not feeling like a zombie because i am so tired all day.
