I think the rehab program can help by getting the muscles fit so they use less oxagen to work efficiently. It may not stop him being tired altogether but it may improve things. Try not to worry to much i also struggle with tiredness and often have a nap in the afternoon just another part of the illness

I'm up and down at the moment I think he will be OK we do everything possible and then I start panicking and getting upset and scared because I don't want to lose him I want him to be OK

I was diagnose when i was about 35 and am now 52 but i started getting unwell in my early 20s i was told it was brittal asthma then by 35 the diagnosis was changed to emphcemia. Pullmanry rehab healthy lifestyle and good medical care has kept me fairly well even though my emphcemia is classified as severe. I am confident following thies guides i will live to be a very old person. I find the more i understand my condition and lern to listen to my body the less scary it becomes this is true for my family to. If i am concerned about something i ask eather the wonderful blf help line or my gp ,consultant and the respatry nurses i belong to my local breath easy group also a mine of help and information and support for me and my family. I hope you find this useful and get all information and support you need oh and of corse this sight

I was a commercial electrical foreman. Sometimes I think that was what kept me going as long as I have. My stats without oxygen are in the low to mid 80's. Exercise I believe is the key to keeping a high quality of life. I swim 3 or 4 times a day, lift weights and do 5 - 10 toe touches or squats every time I leave my desk. I really haven't had much issue with fatigue unless I push to hard and let my O2 get down to 80 or the mid 70's. Then I'm done for the day.

The Rehab certainly helped me. Tiredness is common though not an everyday occurrence. Carrying bags or climbing stairs is also a problem for most sufferers. Don't worry about the shortness of breath lip pursing breathing is the best way to get around shortness of breath.

Hi. I think it's normal to tire easily with copd as breathing takes more effort. I cough constantly which disturbs my sleep. Maybe excersise would invigorate him if he finds it possible x

Hi Outdoors . I suppose it depends on how tired is "tired" in your view. Is he asleep all the time? Or does he need naps here and there? Is his appetite usual or is he eating less? Is he too tired he cannot perform day to day tasks? How is his mood?

I think you mentioned he was mild. But I think having compromised lungs no matter how mild can make one burn out much quicker than we may expect.

I would worry if he is so exhausted he is struggling to dress himself, bath or potter about the house. I must also say the heat and humidity (if applicable) is dreadful on us with trouble breathing. And the more we struggle to breathe, the more exhausted we become. If you are very worried please do not hesitate to discuss it with him and his doctor.

Warm wishes,

Cas xx ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป

Has he lost weight with his illness? I lost weight and was really tired, then was told I had anemia which was the cause of the tiredness. So I started with iron tablets. Just a thought. Itโ€™s just surprising that he should feel so tired with mild copd, it makes me wonder if something else is causing it. Check with the doctors. Good luck ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi, your husband is getting tired is part of the disease, I have emphysema and have exactly the same problem here one minute gone the next even when watching footie or a good spy thriller. As far as I know there is no cure for it except to keep him talking ALL the time. Sorry can't be more help.

hi i also have copd level 3. i find that the more you can move the better it is just like training to increase your stamina. i go kayaking and walking. A big but is to only do what you can manage to much is as damaging as to little. I started walking on the flat and then progressed to bigger things. Good luck.
