Abstract Silhouette.

I was not intending to post an abstract. I bought some CANVAS BOARDS from Amazon - the weave is that rough, can't paint proper on it.

So I painted a Silhouette in abstract,

I have sent for some canvas, and will use the rest of this for if I need to practice.

This is an abstract using Ultramarine Blue. Vermilion Green and Cadmium Yellow. in 3D.

I like it, especially the colour of the sky with the stars. It must be disappointing for you that the quality of the canvas isn’t so good, but from here it doesn’t notice. Hopefully your new canvas will arrive quickly though.

Thank you HH - I bought the canvas boards because they are slim. First they are not so big and the nap in the weave makes it almost impossible to paint straight with a detail brush.

I have sent for tripple primed canvas. only £3 more than this board rubbish.

Could u order canvas and recover those boards? Wld it b worth making canvas frames yrself too? Or do charity shop visit,buy cheap canvases and paint over or recover xxx

Love this, Ern. Clever balance of both colour and use of area. Great shapes, love the contrast. Especially love the birds, and the detail for the one in the middle. Delightful! A great start to the day, and thank you!

Hi Ern. Just wondering if a Gesso Primer might make the canvas boards more forgiving ?

I think a lot of gesso might help. but with detail needed not really enogh. This paining was with two coats of Lamb Black, and still was not OK for detail. I use gesso even if it says tripple primed , but streched canvas is much better than these panels,

Good morning Ern I think you have done a wonderful painting. It does not show the canvas is rough. The colours compliment each other and I love the silhouette of the birds. You are very talented and Iam amazed how you are still managing to paint with your bad eye. Well done. 👍 issy xx

Thank you Issy - Really are rough, I was cutting costs, does not work. I manage as I have a desk/table witj an easel on it, so I am close to the painting, also I have a bright flexy lamp, that shines where I need it.
