Anti biotics

Hi Whit....please call 111 now ..today.Explain all that you're going through....what's happening....and they will check if you can have extra medication ( I think you do)...and will send urgent/emergency prescription to your local pharmacy ASAP...
If not call emergency doctors out!!!.
Please let me know how you get on.
Hope you start to feel better ASAP.
Take care. 🐕 Gnasher
Personally I would ring your doctor . Tell him the infection remains and ask for a sputum specimen to be sent. You may need either different antibiotics or you could need a longer corse of the original antibiotics. This kept happening to me and it was found that I needed both a longer course and different antibiotics.
Two great replies whit and l would say the same as the others. You need to contact your doctor and get some help. Being the weekend 111 is probably the way forward. Take care xxx❤️
U need to get on top of infection.hope 111 issue u more antibiotics. Get well soon whit x
I agree too. Hope you can get more Doxy this weekend, then a sputum test to see if a different antibiotic would be more suitable. Good luck.
Hi whit it has t aken me 2.5 weeks dosage of doxycycline and amoxicillin and prednisolone to get mine under control so sometimes 7 day course isn't enough to kick it out of the system. Please get some medical advice for yourself and hopefully you will get there soon
Are you feeling unwell with it? Are you improving? Submit a sputum sample to see if its infected & see what your dr says. Good luck!
It sounds like this infection has be around for a while now, a d am surprised that co amoxiclav didn't shake it as this is a strong antibiotic. Did you put in a sputum sample before starting Doxy, you really need to know what infection you are dealing with. I would phone 111 and ask their advise. Hope younget better soon x
yes you can, sometimes it needs two courses to clear the infection.
Hello Whit,The Doxy may not be dealing with whatever bug you have growing, just like other members have said, best to seek Clinical advice, I'm not sure I would be comfortable advising you to take more Doxy. I hope this is helpful and your chest gets cleared up soon, that you start to feel better 😊
Doxycycline and Amoxacillin are general purpose AB's and sometimes the bugs will not respond to them. You should, I think, get a sputum sample done. This will probably need the green light by a doctor or prescribing nurse. So, you might have to be seen by somebody. Good luck with that. A sputum test will indicate the RIGHT antibiotic to knock out the bug you have. It might even be an intravenous AB.
I would strongly suggest you get a phlegm sample taken and sent off for analysis. You may have an infection for which doxyis not the best anti-biotic. As to continuing the same applies but also take the advice of a clinician.
